Nabokov
First Impression:
I immediately printed this essay out and hole punched it to fit inside my scheduler/planner. Nabokov's words hit me in such a way that I wanted to make sure I had them with me whenever I needed or wanted to look over them again. I even shared the essay with my wife, a research nurse who doesn't like to read poetry, and she enjoyed it as well. The difference between an article and an essay makes itself well known in Nabokov's "Good Readers"; the words appeal to a general, non-sepcialist audience but still manage to impact the specialist in a certain way.
Ideas:
Nabokov's thoughts on the role of the author reminded me of the introduction to The Painted Bird, by Jerzy Kosinski.
